Original Painting on Paper

20x26 Inches

A friend of mine approached me about doing some artwork for Fulton Alley here in New Orleans, which happens to be on Fulton St. Being that I’m from a little town called Fulton, IL which also sits right next to the Mississippi, this all sounded like a pretty cool synchronicity. Our town is named after Robert Fulton, the inventor of the steam boat, as is the street and the bowling alley. My first thought was obviously to paint Robert Fulton, but as our school mascot was The Steamers, I rolled with the steamboat first. This also served as an exercise in stepping out of my comfort zone, as I usually work with portraits, and maybe also an exercise in mining my past and upbringing. Hang tight to see if the project comes to fruition.
